My mother had style, she still does. These scarves were hers – a gorgeous Gucci (L) and a Hermes (R) purchased in Paris, France in 1973. My mom wore it exactly as I did in this photo when she was a young adult. Want to hear something else cool? When I was steaming these scarves to wear them, I smelled my mom’s Chanel No. 5 – always her signature perfume.
So that is cool on its own, right? Well there is more. It is a SMALL WORLD. Often my shoots happen in some ‘surprise’ spare time – as was the case on this day. I shot at the Scenic Overlook in Annapolis, MD. I was walking around scouting places to shoot when I SAW MY MOTHER. She was randomly there visiting with friends. Seeing her in a place neither of us ever go – and on the very day I am shooting with HER scarves was just a little crazy! She stayed with me through the whole shoot, we laughed, caught up and had an amazing afternoon together; she loved seeing her scarves in action again. How’s that for some serendipity?!
Cheers to passing special things on – even small things – to our kids or special people in our lives to be appreciated and enjoyed generation after generation. I’m so damn lucky.
